We often hear about people who knew what they wanted to be in their life while they were in grade school. Somehow, they found their passion while they were very young. I didn’t have the same luck, I tried quite a few different avenues for professional life. Eventually after multiple attempts at different fields of work, I found my acre of diamonds in real estate, a field which I have been involved in for the past 15 years. “Acre of diamonds” is a concept popularized by a minister named Russell Conwell and the basic premise is that our opportunities lie right under our feet; to summarize one finds their opportunities in their own field, in their own town.
Recently I came across Gary Keller’s book, “The One Thing” which states that instead of trying too many things at once, one should focus on finding the most important thing and then channel all energies towards that one thing. Even though I didn’t go through the process in a deliberate manner, which is what has happened in my current endeavor. Real estate has many facets and one of them is property management, which I have made my one thing. I am much more focused as I shed other options out of my professional life. It has been an exhilarating 6 months with tremendous learning, connections, friends and mentors. One of the recent networking and marketing event I organized was at Keller-Williams Lake Cities Group in Garland, Texas. Keller-Williams was co-founded by Gary Keller – how appropriate? Here’s a snapshot of me presenting to Keller Williams’ agents!
